Here are the five latest drugs or medical devices approved by the FDA since July 27:
1. Abbott's FreeStyle Libre 14 Day Flash Glucose Monitoring system uses a sensor to regularly measure and monitor glucose levels for up to 14 days, without the need for finger pricks.
2. Roche's Cobas HPV Test may now be used as a first-line screening test for cervical cancer in women age 25 and up analyzing cervical specimens collected in SurePath preservative fluid.
3. Progenics' Azedra injection is the first systemic treatment for rare adrenal gland tumors that cannot be surgically removed or have spread.
4. The CipherOx CRI M1, made by Flashback Technologies, is a handheld device that calculates heart rate, blood-oxygen levels and intravascular volume relative to a patient's response to blood loss.
5. Hologic's Group B Streptococcus assay may now be used to detect Streptococcus agalactiae bacteria using the Panther Fusion system.
