The FDA cleared Cantel Medical Corp.'s Advantage Plus Pass-Thru automated endoscope reprocessor, the company announced April 18.
Here are three things to know.
1. The Advantage Plus Pass-Thru AER is a disinfection system for commonly used endoscopes.
2. Cantel Medical designed the machine to limit the risk of human error and other infection control lapses during reprocessing. The system contains a pass-through design to support a one-way sterilization workflow, along with a hard-wall separation between dirty and clean endoscopes.
3. The Advantage Plus Pass-Thru AER can reprocess up to five endoscopes in just over an hour.
