Five drugs or medical devices approved by the FDA since March 8:
1. Trazimera is Pfizer's biosimilar version of Herceptin, Roche's blockbuster breast cancer treatment.
2. ClearMate is a device intended for use in an emergency room setting to help patients suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning.
3. The FDA expanded indication for the heart valve repair device the MitraClip to include patients with normal mitral valves who develop symptoms of heart failure and moderate-to-severe or severe mitral regurgitation due to diminished left heart function.
4. Diovan is a new generic of valsartan, a common blood pressure drug. It was approved to help alleviate the shortage that stemmed from a string of recalls.
5. Tecentriq, is approved to treat patients with locally advanced or metastatic triple-negative breast cancer whose tumors express PD-L1, a protein that often disguises cancer cells, helping them avoid detection by the immune system. The FDA approved Tecentriq in combination with the chemotherapy drug Abraxane.
