Atrium Health's hospital campus in Concord, N.C., is getting a new name, reports the Independent Tribune.
The hospital, previously called Carolinas HealthCare System NorthEast, will be called Atrium Health Cabarrus, effective Aug. 2.
The name change reflects Atrium Health's systemwide rebranding and highlights Atrium Health Cabarrus' roots. The hospital was founded in 1937 as Cabarrus County General Hospital.
At the time of its opening, the hospital had 45 beds. Today, Atrium Health Cabarrus houses 400-plus beds and employs more than 1,100 physicians.
The hospital is the 10th Atrium Health facility to undergo a name change since the Charlotte, N.C.-based system rebranded from Carolinas HealthCare System in February 2018.
