Arlington-based Texas Health Resources plans to begin publishing quality and safety data for the public, demonstrating the healthcare industry's move to greater transparency and accountability, according to a Dallas Morning News report.
Texas Health Resources will publish "clinically investigated data rather than administrative or billing data, and it will reflect performance on specific medical conditions and practices," according to the report. The health system aims for the data, which will include the rate of serious events, to inform patients about the quality of the system's hospitals and engage patients in their care.
Other hospitals are also increasing transparency by posting quality and safety performance on its website. For example, Dallas-based Methodist Health System has published certain measures since 2009, according to the report.
