Beebe Medical Center Changes Name

Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, Del., has rebranded itself as Beebe Healthcare, according to a News Journal report.

CEO Jeffrey Fried said the name change explains how the organization has become more than its 210-bed hospital, according to the report. Beebe has labs, rehab clinics and ambulatory surgery centers scattered throughout its county.

Last year, Beebe reached a $122.2 million settlement with victims of a former pedophile pediatrician who had admitting privileges at the hospital. Earl Bradley, MD, was convicted in August 2011 of raping or abusing 86 patients.

Moody's Investors Service said the settlement capped Beebe's financial risk to "manageable levels," which led to an upgrade of its long-term credit rating.
