The Vermont Association of Hospitals and Health Systems has become the first association to enroll all of its hospitals in the Healthier Hospitals Initiative, a hospital-based organization focused around environmental sustainability in the healthcare sector.
Two Vermont hospitals, Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington and Central Vermont Medical Center in Barre, have been HHI members.
All 22 of Vermont's acute-care hospitals, long-term care hospitals and mental health facilities have also been working with Efficiency Vermont, a group created in part by the state legislature to help state residents reduce their energy costs and protect the environment while improving the economy.
