10 states with the fewest community hospital beds per 1,000 population

Oregon may be the state most in need of staffed beds for community hospitals, according to data compiled by the Kaiser Family Foundation.

Below are the 10 states with the fewest staffed hospital beds at community hospitals per 1,000 population, based on data from the 1999-2018 AHA Annual Survey and population data from the U.S. Census Bureau.

2. Washington: 1.7
3. New Mexico: 1.8
4. Utah: 1.8
5. California: 1.8
6. Colorado: 1.9
7. Maryland: 1.9
8. Arizona: 1.9
9: Idaho: 1.9
10. Hawaii: 1.9
