New Jersey radiology group pulls out of hospitals suddenly

Morristown, N.J.-based ImageCare Radiology, one of the largest privately owned radiology groups in the state, is ending its hospital-based services.

The company is withdrawing its services from Atlantic Health System's Hackettstown and Newton medical centers in New Jersey, effective Nov. 21, according to a company news release. ImageCare has provided care at those hospitals for more than 30 years.

The group said it will now focus on expanding its outpatient presence in New Jersey, where it currently operates 23 centers and plans to open two more in the next year.

"The move will enable our physicians and staff to focus on what we do best — providing expert diagnostic imaging services and care in our comfortable, patient-centered outpatient facilities across the community," Clay Hinrichs, MD, president of ImageCare Radiology, said in the release.
