UnitedHealth Becomes Part of Dow Jones

Minnetonka, Minn.-based health insurer UnitedHealth Group will join the Dow Jones Industrial Average at the opening of trading Sept. 24, according to a Star Tribune report.

The Dow Jones follows 30 of the biggest companies in the United States and their trends within the stock market. It is also considered to be a major reflection of the U.S. economy.


UnitedHealth will take the place of Kraft Foods. In fiscal year 2011, UnitedHealth posted total revenue of $101.9 billion and total profit of $5.14 billion.
