Representatives from healthcare associations, providers, health plans and other stakeholders created a new resource for transitioning to ICD-10 called "The ICD-10 PlayBook," according to a news release by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society.
Twenty-one participants met at the HIMSS G7 Roundtable to create the PlayBook, a web-based resource designed to guide healthcare providers through the ICD-10 transition. The PlayBook includes information on strategy development, implementation, best practices, remediation, human resource planning, advanced financial risk identification and risk mitigation. It also provides access to other ICD-10 resources. The G7 Roundtable's strategy for ICD-10 education and the PlayBook are detailed in the "HIMSS G7 Advisory Report – ICD-10 PlayBook."
According to the report, the ultimate message of the ICD-10 PlayBook is "Mobilize today for ICD-10 transformation."
