A recent Gallup poll reported 44.5 percent of American adults receive health insurance from their employer, a trend that has been on the decline since Gallup first started tacking health insurance sources in 2008.
In Jan. 2008, Gallup reported 49.8 percent of adults 18 and older received health coverage through their employer, and that number has declined almost every quarter since.
Gallup initially attributed the decline to increases in unemployment and underemployment, but other factors could also be contributing to the trend, such as fewer employers offering health insurance.
