Health insurer Cigna has completed its acquisition of HealthSpring, which was one of the largest Medicare Advantage plans in the country, according to a Cigna news release.
The deal will add more than 1 million people to Cigna's rolls.
Cigna first announced it would purchase HealthSpring in October. The deal, which received antitrust approval in November, is estimated to be worth $3.8 billion. Cigna will announce its fourth quarter and 2011 full-year earnings this week.
