An Oregon Senate Committee is still ironing out the details of a bill intended to boost vaccination rates among healthcare workers, according to an Oregon Capitol News report.
Under SB 1503, healthcare employees would be required to prove they received the flu vaccination or provide a written declaration that they denied the vaccine. In turn, healthcare employers must report employee vaccination rates to the state. In addition, healthcare employers that do not reach a target 80 percent employee vaccination rate must make the vaccination a condition of employment, according to the report.
Lawmakers are still discussing provisions within the bill, including religious exemptions. The Senate committee members are scheduled to discuss the bill again next week.
