The Haskell, N.J.-based Wanaque Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation completed a state-mandated patient separation Nov. 20, according to NJTV News.
The Wanaque Center facility provides medical care to medically fragile residents. The facility has separated the patients infected with adenovirus from the other patients. Patients were tested and grouped based on the results and the symptoms identified.
The New Jersey Department of Health confirmed the separation was completed before the state-set deadline of Nov. 21. The facility has seen a decrease in patients since the outbreak and has the space to separate its patient population.
The state health department required the center to hire a certified infection control practitioner and a physician or physician practice with a certification in infectious diseases.
So far 34 children have been infected with adenovirus and 11 children have died since the outbreak started in September.
