The Joint Commission is seeking comments on its plan to link its ORYX quality measures to specific performance targets, according to a release by The Joint Commission.
Under the proposal, hospitals would have to achieve an initial composite performance target of 85 percent compliance on certain heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical and children's asthma care measures.
Hospitals have until Feb. 22 to comment on the proposed accreditation requirement. Currently, accredited hospitals must submit quarterly data on ORYX measures but are not required to achieve a specific level of performance.
