Iredell Memorial Hospital Cited as Immediate Jeopardy by State Surveyors

Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville, N.C., has until March 17 to be in compliance to CMS standards of care or else it risks losing federal funding for healthcare, according to a Statesville Record and Landmark report.

State surveyors from the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services conducted an investigation at Iredell Memorial on behalf of CMS. Their specific findings will not be made public until the entire investigation is completed, but the surveyors reportedly found deficiencies in the areas of governance, patient rights, quality assessment and performance improvement and nursing services.

The hospital has submitted a corrective action plan to CMS, which will in turn conduct an unannounced resurvey of the hospital. Iredell Health System's board of directors expressed confidence that the hospital will re-establish its compliance with Medicare standards.
