CMS has chosen 73 advisors as part of its new Innovation Advisors program, which is designed to help health professionals deepen skills that will drive improvements to patient care and reduce costs.
Through the Innovation Advisors Program, the advisors are charged with supporting the CMS Innovation Center in testing new healthcare delivery models; utilizing their knowledge and skills in pursuit of the triple aim; collaborating with other stakeholders; and building durable skill in system improvement throughout their community.
The program will allow the advisors to develop several key skill sets, including healthcare economics and finances, population health, systems analysis and operations research. This first group of advisors will start their six-month intensive orientation and applied research period this month. The Innovation Advisors Program will eventually select and develop as many as 200 individuals from across the country in its first year.
