South Carolina nursing home removes residents due to bats

MUSC Health Mullins (S.C.) Nursing Center relocated residents to another facility after finding bats living outside, ABC affiliate KNXV reported Oct. 12.

"Out of an abundance of caution, we determined it would be safest to relocate care team members and residents from the facility while the issue is addressed. It's important to note that there are no confirmed or suspected cases of illness at this time; however, the safety of our residents and care team members is our top priority," MUSC Marketing Manager John Russell told the news station.

Residents and staff were moved to MUSC Health Marion Medical Center, also in Mullins, starting Oct. 12 and will be able to return to the Mullins facility once the bats have been removed.
