Michigan nursing homes required to offer on-site COVID-19 booster shots

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services issued a new order Jan. 20 requiring nursing homes to offer COVID-19 booster shots to residents on-site.

The new order does not require residents to be vaccinated, but requires facilities to document whether each resident offered a vaccine accepted or refused. If a resident is unable to make their own medical decisions, nursing home staff are required to contact the person legally responsible for their care and inform them of the option to receive the on-site shot.
