Massachusetts to build $482.6M veterans nursing home

Massachusetts Executive Office of Veterans' Services received a $164 million federal grant to aid in constructing a veterans nursing home.

The grant will support the reconstruction of Holyoke Veterans' Home, a 234-bed, long-term care facility for state veterans, according to a May 1 news release from the agency. The building will be complete in 2028 and cost $482.6 million.

The facility is expected to have 350,000 square feet and house gardens, physical therapy facilities, dental suite, hair salon, dining and social spaces, and single occupancy rooms with private baths, the Daily Hampshire Gazette reported May 7.
