The former executive director of the Louisiana Board of Examiners of Nursing Facility Administrators allegedly spent nearly $19,000 on personal expenses using an agency-issued credit card, the Louisiana Illuminator reported Feb. 20.
The Louisiana Legislative Auditor's Office issued a report Feb. 20 that detailed the credit card spending of Mark Hebert from June 2019 through July 2022. The purchase history included phones, smartwatches, kitchen appliances and streaming TV subscriptions, according to the report. The majority of the items were delivered to his home.
The report noted the possible violations included theft, unauthorized use of movable property and malfeasance in office.
Mr. Herber's attorney, meanwhile, told the Illuminator his client has not been charged with any crime and maintains that every purchase was authorized.
