The national ratio of Clostridium difficile infections reported by inpatient rehabilitation facilities across the U.S. between Oct. 1, 2022, and Sept. 30, 2023, was 0.408, according to data released by CMS on Sept. 25.
CMS calculates C. diff incidence ratio by dividing the number of infections a facility is predicted to have with the number of infections it reports.
The 10 facilities with the highest C. diff ratios as reported by CMS are:

- Hannibal (Mo.) Regional Healthcare System: 2.96
- AMITA Health Resurrection Medical Center Chicago: 2.792
- Riverside Hospital DPU (Alexandria, La.): 2.743
- Presbyterian Intercommunity (Whittier, Calif.): 2.333
- St. Luke's Rehabilitation Hospital (Chesterfield, Mo.): 2.154
- Dominican Hospital (Santa Cruz, Calif.): 2.147
- Danbury (Conn.) Hospital: 2.066
- MercyOne Waterloo (Iowa) Inpatient Physical Rehabilitation: 2.026
- Riverview Hospital (Noblesville, Ind.): 1.966
