Boise, Idaho-based St. Luke's Health System has opened the state's first pediatric inpatient rehabilitation unit at St. Luke's Children's Hospital, according to a Sept. 17 report from NBC affiliate KTVB.
A Sep. 17 ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the opening of the unit, which will serve patients ages one to 14 starting next week, the report said.
Prior to the unit's opening, Idaho residents had to travel out of state to receive post-acute pediatric rehabilitative care.
The project took 10 years to complete, according to KTVB.
