Here are nine nursing home and assisted living facilities, that have opened, closed or broken ground since Oct. 5:
Opening and ground breaking:
- Louisville, Ky.-based Trilogy Health Services leadership joined representatives from the city of Lancaster, Ohio, Lancaster-Fairfield County and Ohio University to break ground on a new senior living and post-acute campus in Lancaster.
- Central Arkansas Nursing Centers broke ground on a $20 million, 140-bed skilled nursing facility in Fort Smith.
- Cheyenne-based Veterans Home of Wyoming opened Oct. 20, becoming the first skilled nursing facility in the state dedicated to veterans.
- Quincy, Ill.-based Sunset Home broke ground on its 106-bed skilled nursing facility.
Closing:
- Defiance (Ohio) Healthcare and Rehabilitation is relocating all 48 residents and closing its doors.
- Boston-based Landmark at Longwood, a low-income assisted living facility, is closing soon, forcing some of its residents into nursing homes.
- Medford, Wis.-based Aspirus Health plans to close a skilled nursing facility in Portage and focus its resources on its assisted living community.
- Country View Assisted Living Center in Florence, S.D., is closing due to staff shortages and lack of Medicaid reimbursements.
- Greenfield, Mo.-based Dade County Nursing Home closed after 54 years of operation.
