7 nursing home openings and closings

Here are seven nursing home and assisted living facilities that have opened, closed or changed ownership since Nov. 9:

  1. San Juan Capistrano, Calif.-based Ensign Group acquired Brighton Care Center, a 108-bed skilled nursing facility in Brighton, Colo., and Malley Transitional Care Center, a 162-bed skilled nursing facility in Northglenn, Colo.

  2. The skilled nursing facility at Riverhead’s (N.Y.) Peconic Bay Medical Center is set to close in early 2023.

  3. Prairie Estates Care Center in Elk Point, S.D., will close Jan. 14 due to staffing and financial issues.

  4. Louisville, Ky.-based ScionHealth is set to start construction on a 53-bed long-term acute care hospital featuring a rehabilitation unit in Orlando.

  5. The North Idaho State Veterans Home, the first veterans nursing home in Idaho, opened in Post Falls on Nov. 11.

  6. Columbus, Mont.-based Beartooth Manor will close Jan. 7 due to staffing issues.

  7. Basin, Wy.-based Three Rivers Health has closed its nursing home.
