117 Florida nursing home residents evacuated after roof collapse

Residents were evacuated from Clewiston (Fla.) Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a storm and a tree caused the roof to collapse, Wink News reported May 24.

Approximately 117 residents were loaded into transport buses on the evening of May 23 and taken to a local auditorium for the night. No one was injured in the incident.

The fire department told Wink News it did not find any part of the building that is safe to stay in. The auditorium may be used for temporary housing for a few days before permanent accommodations are made, according to the report.
