West Virginia nursing home employed nurse imposter for 4 months

A West Virginia woman faces criminal charges for allegedly posing as a nurse at a skilled nursing facility for about four months, reports WSAZ.

The woman, 33-year-old Ashley Monday, misrepresented herself as a registered nurse while working at Charleston, W.Va.-based Eastbrook Center from Nov. 28, 2017, to March 13, 2018, according to a criminal complaint cited by WSAZ.

"A few weeks ago, the leadership of Eastbrook became aware that a woman with a history of deceptive behavior had posed as a registered nurse using another person's license number," the skilled nursing facility said in a statement to WSAZ. Eastbrook leadership immediately fired Ms. Monday and reported her actions to the appropriate legal and regulatory authorities.

"We do not believe resident care was adversely affected during her employment," Eastbrook said. "Our management team is reviewing hiring and background check procedures to ensure a situation like this does not occur in the future."

Ms. Monday received about $12,580 during her employment at the facility. Police charged her with obtaining money, property and services by false pretenses.
