Propeller Health releases API to predict asthma conditions

Propeller Health, a Madison, Wis.-based respiratory health startup, rolled out an application programming interface to predict local asthma conditions Oct. 10.

The API, called Air, aims to inform individuals with chronic respiratory disease about asthma conditions in their area. The Air API bases its calculations on a machine learning model trained on information related to where and under what environmental conditions people experience asthma symptoms.

Propeller Health officials hope third-party developers will use the API to continue to build applications that support chronic respiratory disease patients.

"People will be able to make use of Propeller's analytics, which draw on the largest database of respiratory medication use, environmental exposures and conditions," said Greg Tracy, co-founder and chief technology officer of Propeller Health. "We look forward to seeing how others build on this to change the experience of respiratory disease."
