Walgreens Boots Alliance said Oct. 12 it has named two new leaders to its executive team.
Holly May was appointed executive vice president and global chief human resources officer, and Anita Allemand, PharmD, was named chief transformation and integration officer, a newly created role.
Ms. May will be responsible for Walgreens' strategy and direction of its global HR programs, and for ensuring fair and equitable treatment of all team members. She most recently served as global chief human resources officer for Abercrombie & Fitch and also previously worked as an executive at Starbucks. Her first day will be in late October.
"I am very excited to join WBA at this pivotal point in the organization's journey, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to ensure the company and its brands stand out as an employer of choice in the industry," Ms. May said in a news release.
Dr. Allemand, a pharmacist by trade, will be responsible for establishing and leading the overall transformation agenda for Walgreens. She previously served as senior vice president of health solutions for Optum and spent 16 years at CVS Health in a number of leadership positions, most recently as senior vice president of product innovation and development. Her first day will be Oct. 29.
"I have always had a great passion for healthcare, and pharmacy in particular, and WBA is ideally positioned in so many ways to offer even more to patients. I look forward to us capitalizing on many future opportunities," Dr. Allemand said in the news release.
Roz Brewer, CEO of Walgreens Boots Alliance, said in the news release, "Holly and Anita are both strong and proven leaders joining us at a pivotal, exciting time, and I'm pleased to welcome them to the WBA family. Holly brings a wealth of global human resources experience and will play a critical role in activating our purpose, vision and values as part of our new culture. And as we further innovate to meet the ever-changing needs of our customers and patients, Anita's leadership, pharmacy expertise and passion for healthcare innovation will be instrumental in accelerating our strategies to serve as a neighborhood health destination."
The company named three new executives in late August, appointing Danielle Gray as executive vice president and global chief legal officer; Tracey Brown as president of retail products and chief customer officer; and Jeff Gruener as senior vice president and CFO.
