Eyedrops, ointments sold at Walgreens, Walmart recalled

Altaire Pharmaceuticals is recalling several lots of over-the-counter eyedrops and ointments exclusively sold at Walmart and Walgreens due to sterility concerns.

The drugmaker is recalling lubricating eyedrops, allergy relief drops and several eye ointments under the Equate and Support Harmony brands. Other affected eye products are Walgreens brand.

"Administration of a nonsterile product intended to be sterile may result in serious and potentially life-threatening infections or death," the drugmaker said in its recall notice.

Altaire said it has not received any reports of adverse events related to the recall.
