Amazon has partnered with First Databank — a database of drug and medical device information — to allow Amazon Alexa users to ask questions about drug information, such as drug interactions and side effects.
Users can ask Alexa questions about drug side effects, precautions and a drug's class. The answers are meant to complement advice given to patients from medical and pharmacy teams.
"Ultimately, we believe that more informed consumers will lead to improved medication adherence, the reduction of adverse drug events and better patient outcomes," Bob Katter, president of First Databank, said in a news release.
Alexa will be able to answer in both English and Spanish, and the database will be updated regularly.
