1. Bayer cuts 227 California jobs
Citing a need to increase efficiencies, Bayer AG will lay off 227 employees at its manufacturing facility in Berkeley, Calif.
2. Momenta Pharmaceuticals guts leadership team, slashes 110 jobs
As part of a restructuring and cost reduction effort, Cambridge, Mass.-based Momenta Pharmaceuticals will slash its workforce in half and gut most of its leadership team.
3. Novartis to cut more than 2K jobs in restructuring move
In a global restructuring effort, Swiss drug giant Novartis will cut more than 2,000 jobs.
4. Novo Nordisk to lay off 400 employees in China, Denmark
Novo Nordisk, a Denmark-based multinational pharmaceutical company, will slash 400 jobs in its research and development unit.
5. Baxter to lay off 131 New York employees
Deerfield, Ill.-based Baxter International, a medical device supplier, will lay off 131 employees at its facility in Medina, N.Y.
6. Roche's Genentech to cut 223 jobs in California
Genentech, a subsidiary of Swiss pharma giant Roche, is slashing 223 jobs from its headquarters in California.
