Blair, Neb.-based Memorial Community Hospital & Health System officials said the health system will no longer offer home health and hospice services, according to the Pilot-Tribune & Enterprise.
Tim Plante, president and CEO of MCHHS, told the Pilot-Tribune financial pressures and dwindling reimbursements played a role in the decision to discontinue the services. He said the closure will affect approximately 15 employees. Staff and providers were reportedly notified of the change last week, according to the report.
Mr. Plante said the facility planed to send letters to affected patients Saturday, according to the report.
Mr. Plante also said MCCHS is currently in negotiations with a larger health system, but declined to provide the name of the organization. He said ideally the partner organization would retain all 15 affected employees and consider offering the services again once the partnership is finalized, according to the report.
