Naval Hospital Bremerton (Wash.) has converted its emergency department to an urgent care clinic, according to a report from the Kitsap Sun.
The urgent care clinic will provide 24-7 care for non-life-threatening conditions and will provide walk-in appointments.
The hospital's commanding officer, Capt. Christopher Quarles, noted the ED closure and urgent care opening are in response to patient demand. "A comprehensive analysis showed that our patients often require urgent care much more frequently than emergency care. This change will result in quicker and more cost-effective services, while continuing our long tradition of delivering the highest quality care," he wrote to the Sun.
