Man jumps to death from 5th floor of New York hospital

Police confirmed a man died after jumping from the fifth floor of Syracuse, N.Y.-based Crouse Hospital Aug. 13, according to syracuse.com.

Police said an individual at the hospital reported the incident around 4:40 p.m. The individual was reportedly in "very critical condition" when emergency crews arrived at the scene, the report states.

The individual was transported to Syracuse-based Upstate University Hospital, where he later died of injuries sustained from the fall, police said. Investigators said they believe the individual sought to take his own life.

A Crouse Hospital spokesperson confirmed to syracuse.com the man had been admitted and discharged from the hospital's emergency room earlier in the day.
