While the percentage of Americans visiting the ED annually remained stable from 2001 to 2011, the visit rate, which accounts for changes in population, increased 16 percent: from 37 visits per 100 persons in 1995 to 43 visits in 2010. Meanwhile, the supply of EDs decreased about 11 percent in 2011, according to the report.
