Bankrupt Florida hospital closes ER

Campbellton-Graceville (Fla.) Hospital, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May, closed its emergency room Friday, according to WTVY.

Residents of Graceville will now have to travel about 20 miles for emergency care.

Although officials didn't provide details about why the ER closed, they told WTVY the rest of the hospital will remain open.

In May, the Campbellton-Graceville Hospital board of trustees said various factors pushed the hospital into bankruptcy, including pending litigation against People's Choice Hospital in Oak Brook, Ill., a company that specializes in turning around financially distressed facilities.
