Acting Chief of Veterans Affairs, Sloan Gibson, is set to address nearly 12,000 veterans in St. Louis today at the 115th Veterans of Foreign Wars Convention, according to a report from Fox News.
Acting VA Secretary Gibson will elaborate on his plans to correct the capacity and quality problems plaguing the VA system, which resulted in the deaths of tens of veterans due to delayed treatment and the resignation of former VA Secretary Eric Shinseki.
A recent internal audit revealed veterans across the U.S. are waiting 86 days on average to see specialists within the VA system, according to the report.
