Seventy-seven patients, including newborns, were temporarily evacuated Dec. 29, after a small fire erupted at Jacksonville, Fla.-based Baptist Medical Center, according to the Florida Times Union.
The fire was contained by the hospital's sprinkler system and extinguished by the Jacksonville fire department. No injuries were reported.
"They moved a total of 37 patients from the newborn intensive care unit. They also moved 20 moms and 14 babies from the third floor of the pavilion, and they moved six from labor and delivery," said Cindy Hamilton, director of public relations for Baptist Health.
All patients were returned to their rooms about 10 p.m.
