Nearly half of patients report they "somewhat" trust online reviews of providers, according to a Kyruus report.
For the report, titled the "2017 Patient Access Journey Report," Kyruus tapped Wakefield Research to survey 1,000 patients, all of whom reported searching for a healthcare provider during the last two years. The respondents provided insight into how they searched for and selected providers.
Millennials were the most trusting of online reviews compared to older generations, with 28 percent reporting that they trust them completely. By contrast, 7 percent of baby boomers said they completely trust online reviews.
Here's how patients responded when asked to what extent they trust online reviews of providers that were written by other patients.
1. Trust completely: 16 percent
2. Trust very much: 27 percent
3. Trust somewhat: 49 percent
4. Distrust somewhat: 7 percent
5. Distrust very much: 1 percent
6. Distrust completely: 1 percent
