An orthopedic surgeon at New York City-based NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital performed the 10,000th case using Intellijoint Surgical's flagship product, the Idaho State Journal reports.

Five highlights:

1. Claudette Lajam, MD, completed a total hip replacement using Intellijoint HIP, an intraoperative navigation system.

2. Intellijoint HIP is designed to improve implant alignment in primary and revision total hip replacement procedures by providing real-time measurements.

3. The system adds less than three minutes to procedure times.

4. Surgeons can become proficient at using Intellijoint HIP in as few as three cases.

5. Intellijoint HIP became available in select U.S. cities in 2016. Since then, the product has expanded its U.S. footprint, reached certain Canadian markets and become available in all of Australia and New Zealand.
