The Oncology Nursing Society honored five nurses and a cancer center for excellence.
ONS recognizes five nurses and one employer for their work in the field of oncology nursing every year. Nominations are submitted to the association and a panel selects the winners. The award winners received $500, a desktop award and travel reimbursement to attend the ONS Annual Congress.
Here are the 2024 Excellence award winners and the outstanding employer:
Toby Bressler, PhD, RN, received the Excellence in Oncology Nursing Health Policy and Advocacy Award.
Emmika Elkin, MSN, RN, received the Excellence in Cancer Nursing Education Award.
Amy Plemons, MSN, RN, received the Excellence in Cancer Nursing Management Award.
Patricia Shannon, RN, received the Excellence in Clinical Practice Award
Susan Bohnenkamp, RN, received the Excellence in Advanced Clinical Practice Award.
The John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack (N.J.) University Medical Center was recognized with the Outstanding Employer Award. This award acknowledges employers that honor and show exemplary support for oncology nurses.
