Atlanta, Ga.-based Northside Hospital has launched a survivorship program to educate and support patients after completing cancer treatment.
The program will initially focus on patients who have been treated for breast, prostate, cervical and endometrial cancers, with plans to expand to more cancer types in the future, according to a Dec. 9 news release from the hospital.
"At the first follow-up visit after completion of radiation therapy, we provide patients with a survivorship care plan that includes information on surveillance, components of a healthy lifestyle and resources to address ongoing or new concerns," Brooke Balun, MSN, lead radiation oncology nurse practitioner, said in the release.
Northside also collaborates with local community organizations to connect survivors with additional resources, the release said.
