Nebraska cancer center launches prevention, control program

Omaha, Neb.-based University of Nebraska Medical Center's Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center has launched a new cancer prevention and control program to address cancer risk factors and population disparities specific to Nebraska.

The new program will be led by Edward Peters, DMD, and Vijaya Bhatt, MD, according to an Oct. 14 news release from UNMC.

In addition to identifying risk factors and disparities, the program will focus on developing prevention methods and screening techniques and enhancing cancer survivors' quality of life.

Researchers from departments and colleges across the university will contribute to the program, the release said.
