Memorial Sloan Kettering names 1st care partner

The Hartford (Conn.) HealthCare Cancer Institute at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport, Conn., has been named New York City-based Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center's first U.S. care partner.

The designation comes after an extensive review process and reflects St. Vincent's Medical Center's commitment to meet MSK's cancer care standards, according to a Dec. 5 news release from Hartford HealthCare.

The institute was also the first member of the MSK Cancer Alliance, the release said.

The care partner designation will provide cancer patients at St. Vincent's Medical Center access to the latest clinical trial opportunities, and allow physicians to consult and collaborate with MSK physicians and experts.

"The relationship between Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Hartford HealthCare promotes seamless collaboration between physicians, nurses and allied health professionals of both institutions through education, research and patient-centered care," Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute Physician in Chief Peter Yu, MD, said in the release.
