Neptune, N.J.-based Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center earned the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval - Lung Cancer Accreditation and Esophageal Cancer Accreditation, according to a press release shared with Becker's Sept 21.
Hackensack was the first in the state to receive the lung cancer accreditation in 2018 and the first and only in the nation to achieve the esophageal cancer accreditation. This year marks the second renewal awarded for both accreditations.
Joint Commission reviewers performed an unannounced onsite review earlier this year. The team evaluated the cancer programs' compliance with quality standards like infection prevention and control, environment of care, anesthesia management and more.
The award recognizes the healthcare organization's commitment to providing safe and high-quality patient care.
