Naples, Fla.-based radiation oncologist Chaundre Cross, MD, has been presumed lost at sea after a 100-hour search, NBC News reported Aug. 16.
Dr. Cross, who specialized in prostate, breast and brain cancers, set out on his boat Aug. 10 but didn't return later that day. Family members expressed concern, launching a 100-hour Coast Guard search.
Dr. Cross' boat was discovered the next day adrift 16 miles south of Sanibel Island in Florida with no sign of the 49-year-old physician. The Coast Guard suspended its search after covering approximately 13,100 square miles of ocean.
