Mayo Clinic Plans $72M Expansion

Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic has announced plans for a $72.1 million expansion and renovation project at St. Mary's Hospital.

The project plans to add five stories to the Mary Brigh East Building and renovate the third floor of the Domitilla Building, according to a news release.

Three of the new floors in the Mary Brigh East Building will house patient care units, adding 69 private rooms. The other two floors will be used for mechanical infrastructure and shell space, unfinished space constructed in anticipation of future needs. The expansion will add 157,100 square feet to the building.

Plans for renovating the Domitilla Building include modernizing inpatient units and creating private patient rooms.

Construction is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2014 and will be completed by early 2016.
