Cape Fear Valley Health System, based in Fayetteville, N.C., and FirstHealth of the Carolinas, based in Pinehurst, N.C., have received state approval to build new hospitals in and near Hoke County, N.C., according to a report by the Fayetteville Observer.
FirstHealth plans to build $30 million to $35 million, eight-bed facility in Raeford, N.C., while Cape Fear Valley plans to build a $79 million, 41-bed facility just outside Hoke County.
Both facilities are expected to be completed by 2012, according to the report.
FirstHealth also submitted plans to build a $3.5 million outpatient surgery center in Raeford, and is currently awaiting state approval for that facility, according to the report.
